
A fully operational non-FPV drone built with a custom designed frame. The original design included a flexible cover plate that bestowed a futuristic, Lamborghini-inspired appearance. However, following the first manufacturing run, the original design was not suitable for flying. The torque that was produced from the electric motors' thrust created a great moment along the joint where the central housing and motor struts conjoined, generating a substantial amount of deflection deeming the design not air worthy. The first set of pictures below all showcase the original design of Inception X:








To solve the deflection issue, the thickness for both the top and bottom plates was increased from 3mm to 5mm. As well, the flexible cover plate was removed due to unnecessary weight, and the racer cut-outs located on the top plate were filled in to centralize the drone's center of gravity for better handling and prevent any points of deflection along the top plate. After the second fabrication phase, the new and final design passed testing and the deflection is now negligible.
